WELCOME TO THE CONFIDENCE PROJECT TT
Educating... Empowering... Building Confidence!
Born out of an extremely harrowing personal experience with multiple debilitating fibroids, The Confidence Project TT (TCPTT) is the realisation of its founder's dream to share her journey with others.
TCPTT is the signature project of Fibroid Awareness Trinidad & Tobago.
WHAT IS THE CONFIDENCE PROJECT TT?
The Confidence Project T&T's (TCPTT) core focus is educating and empowering girls and women; through advocacy and driving awareness on fibroids and other issues of the uterus and providing advice on the requisite lifestyle changes and support to girls and women who are at risk and who have been diagnosed. Through outreach, TCPTT will also champion knowledge transfer to all genders on different aspects of reproductive health and also build the confidence of the lives that we set out to impact.
Globally, issues of the uterus are often under-reported and undiagnosed. Specific to fibroids, girls and women often suffer for at least five (5) years before seeking help- 2012 Fibroid Relief Harris Interactive Survey. In Trinidad & Tobago, cultural misconceptions also contribute largely to our misinformed approach to treating with issues of the uterus.
In 2014 after an 8-year battle with fibroids and their removal via a myomectomy, the founder of TCPTT- Korice AQ Nancis- sought to create a support network for women impacted by fibroids. Her own journey included late diagnosis with a debilitating case of multiple fibroids and attendant side effects. Her diagnosis in 2006 caused her to quickly realise there was no access to a central place/organisation for information, advice or support where she lived at the time (Jamaica) or in her home country (Trinidad & Tobago) and as such she embarked on a journey of empowerment, awareness and hope.

After the myomectomy, Korice began sharing information and supporting women via the social media platform Facebook and she eventually registered Fibroid Awareness Trinidad & Tobago as an official foundation to address the issues she experienced as well as wider reproductive health awareness gaps. In 2017 Korice was selected as an International Fellow in the US Department of State Community Solutions Program and it was during her time in Oakland, California as a fellow based at the Non-Profit CoreAlign,
'The Confidence Project TT' was born.
The Confidence Project TT is a signature initiative of the Fibroid Awareness T & T Foundation which will move the online support and awareness into schools, churches and communities! Please continue to explore The Confidence Project TT website to learn more about our outreach and how you can support or get involved!

THE CONFIDENCE SCHOOL CARAVAN
TCPTT will take the information to schools and directly engage girls and young women, with the support of healthcare stakeholders, to educate them about fibroids and other issues of the uterus and the inextricable link between lifestyle choices and optimal reproductive and sexual health.
THE CONFIDENCE COMMUNITY CARAVAN
TCPTT will take the information to directly to the community through NGOs, FBOs and other community organisations and with the with the support of healthcare stakeholders, participants will be educated about fibroids and other issues of the uterus as well as the inextricable link between lifestyle choices and optimal reproductive and sexual health.
DEMYSTIFYING CULTURAL INACCURACIES WORKSHOP
These workshops/seminars will draw on the core principles of design thinking (empathy, collaboration and) to engage participants towards understanding and correcting the cultural inaccuracies that pervade in our space concerning reproductive health and issues of the uterus. At the end, participants will have a greater understanding of the areas covered and be more emboldened about a very natural and common aspect of human life that is often shrouded in unnecessary secrecy, shame and guilt. All genders are encouraged to participate!
CONFIDENCE CARE PACKS
TCPTT Care Packs are purposefully and carefully crafted bundles of hygiene products for girls and women. Our Care Packs are distributed to schools upon request for students in need or who may simply be caught by surprise and also to women in need (less fortunate/street dwellers/drug addicts)
